THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD

Today was a very big decision making day for me cos I did something which I never thought I would do or at least not in the near future, and that was I have resigned from my current job, shortly after I received my ten years service award from the company. What made my sudden departure so haste and swift is something which even I, myself, has no time to ponder on. Maybe that's how God works on us...

Last week one of my church friend called and informed me of a job opportunity being offered by a company in the aviation industry. She added that it was the Holy Spirit who prompted her to call me to apply. Initially I didn't take it seriously cos I didn't have the intention for a career switch yet as Naomi is still too young and she needs my full attention. However the invitations kept coming back and I began to wonder what if the prompting of the Holy Spirit to my friend is true. Finally I decided to give it a try, thinking that on the other hand, I probably will not get the job based on my existing job nature and working experience.

I went for the first interview on Monday and to my surprise they actually shortlisted me and asked me to go for a second interview on Wednesday. Of course during this period, something happened along the way which make it possible for me to be called for the second interview. The other candidate whom they have already chosen earlier didn't turned up and thus she was rejected by them. All these events really show God at work and I am basically being led through the whole process.

This morning the company sent me the letter of offer and I accepted it. Although it was a good news, I felt a sudden sadness within me as I'm going to leave my current company soon. I'm actually going to miss my agency and all my good colleagues who have gone through the ups and downs with me for the past ten years. And the worst part of all was to break the news to my manager who is leaving Singapore for a convention tonight. This kind of feeling is really beyond description and...... please forgive me KM! Besides that I also want to apologise to all my loyal and faithful clients who had supported me throughout all these years. Sorry I won't be able to offer my services to you all again...

Since I have taken a big step out of my comfort zone and venture into the wilderness, I prayed for God's holy presence to be with me and see me through in this new career and that wilderness is actually the land of milk and honey where I should be. Amen!

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul.
He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me....

Developmental Milestone

This week has been a very fulfilling week for me & Vincent. Currently at 7 months and 2 weeks old, Naomi has started to babble words such as "papa", "mama" and "baobao". They sounded like a stream of consciousness monologues in another language with endless words strung together. Whenever she wants our attention, she would put on a vulnerable facial expression, sometimes with tears on her cheeks and start babbling non-stop. It melts our hearts to see her like that and we give in to her request ultimately. Nevertheless we always thanked God for her good development....

Besides the babbling, I also noticed that she is trying to stand up whenever she gets to hold on to something. It happened this evening when I put her down in the playpen while I went away for a moment, she suddenly stood up and bent half of her body over the playpen! I had to grab hold of her quickly, otherwise I believed she would fell off the playpen! Thank God for His hands of protection upon her!

I guessed it's time we had to spend money again as she has outgrown herself in the playpen. However we still can't decide on whether to replace it with a toddler bed or simply just lay a mattress on the floor for her to sleep on. Advice has been given to me that laying mattress on the floor is much more safer and practical but I personally felt a bit uncomfortable for her to sleep on the floor while we sleep on the bed. Moreover I'm worried that she will roll under our bed. Hmmm... Any comment on this?

The next developmental milestone I am looking forward is when will she start crawling and the growing of her first tooth.

New Play Tent

Yesterday Mummy bought a pop-up play tent together with playballs for me. The play tent is very colourful and it comes with an attachable tunnel too. This afternoon I had an enjoyable time playing inside the tent. Check it out...

Baby Visitation Again

It was another one of those busy Sunday again. Morning at Church...
Church Nursery Room
My friend Janelle
And in the afternoon, I went to the house of a friend of Daddy & Mummy. Uncle Benedict and Aunty Lydia have just joined parenthood two months ago. They have a baby boy named Timothy. Timothy was sleeping when we reached there but later woke up during milk time.
As usual the adults' conversation was about us, how we behaved and how they coped with us. I guessed when parents get together, this will always be a hot topic to share. Before we left, we took some pictures together.

After that we went to Grandma's house because Xiao Su had just returned from Taiwan and he bought some presents for me. Thank you Xiao Su! We stayed there until 9.30pm because Daddy & Mummy wanted to watch the Olympic game. It was the final for the table tennis match and Singapore was playing against China. Although we lost to China and came in second, we're all very happy as Singapore has finally gotten an Olympic medal after 48 years of waiting and trying.
Well done Singapore and more to come!!!

Hey Baby Ming Ze

This morning Daddy sent me and Mummy to Aunty Elaine house to see her newborn baby. It is a boy named Chew Ming Ze. The baby is only two weeks old and Mummy said he reminds her of me when I was just a new born baby. We were there until noon and Daddy came to fetch us back.

Cooking Porridge

After two unsuccessful tries of feeding Naomi with porridge, she finally ate it just now during dinnertime.
For the past 1 month she has been eating fruits and vegetables puree with cereal. She enjoys it very much especially plain cereal with milk. So the transition from cereal to porridge kind of worries me as I'm not sure what to cook. Asking around for secret receipt is the only way to get a head start.
The first time I gave her anchovies broth porridge and she reacted in a very funny manner after tasting it. Conclusion was she doesn't like it as it was tasteless. The second time I boiled anchovies broth with carrot and fish meat to make the porridge. Result was rejection again after a few tasting. So this afternoon, together with my helper Dory, we came up with a receipt. We decided to add carrot, sweet corn, meat and heng chai to make the porridge and puree it thoroughly. When we served it to Naomi, both of us were very nervous as we were not sure whether Naomi will accept the taste this time round. Thank God she likes it and never gave us that funny head shaking movement. Hooray!!! It's an encouragement to us and give us more confident in planning her meals in future.

HortPark - The Gardening Hub

Since today is National Day and a public holiday, our cell group organised a morning walk at Kent Ridge Park. We were to meet at 7.30am at Malan Road where our old church used to be. Therefore I woke up around 6.15am and left home around 6.40am. The arrangement was that Uncle Colin will be picking us up at Potong Pasir MRT Station because Daddy got morning devotion at Garden Hotel so he won't be joining us. However we were late and Uncle Colin picked us at Harbour Front MRT Station instead.

Mummy I am so.... sleepy.....

Waiting for LRT
When we reached Malan Road, everyone was there already. And after some discussions, the group decided to visit the HortPark - The Gardening Hub first instead of taking the 280 metres long canopy walk of Kent Ridge Park that leads to Mount Faber.
HortPark - The Gardening Hub is located at the Hyderabad Road side of the Alexandra Arch which can also be connected to Kent Ridge Park via the Canopy Walk. HortPark - The Gardening Hub is Southeast Asia's first one stop garderning centre for garderning related recreational, educational, research and retail activities in a park setting.

Behind us is Alexandra Arch and Ready, Get Set, Go!

At HortPark I saw many different types of beautiful flowers and fruits trees such as jambu and pomelo. There was also a huge cotton tree and cotton wools were seen lying around under the tree. Towards the end of HortPark sightseeing I fell asleep and what happens after that I have no idea.

Starting to doze off. Zzzzz......

At Kent Ridge Park

Mummy said we spent about two hours altogether walking through the HortPark and took the Canopy Walk that linked to Kent Ridge Park (up to the site of the battle of Bukit Chandu) before returning to HortPark again. After that we walked back to Malan Road where Daddy was waiting for us. Wow what an achievement despite the weather was so sunny.

The picture below shows us at a coffee shop in Tanglin Halt neighbourhood where breakfast shall begin after a long walk.

After breakfast we headed back home. On the way back Daddy decided to bring me to the Punggol Marina seaside to take a quick look.
