The time now is 6am and while waiting for my breakfast to be delivered, I decided to jot down my thoughts. I woke up at 4.30 am and saw Mimi sleeping sweetly and soundly next to me. For the next few minutes I going to do something terrible to her. She is going to wake up and got so mad with it and the tranquility of the room will be filled with her cries. I hated the job but it has to be done and in a great measure of heart ached. I started preparing the drug and set up the machine in my room. I woke Vincent up and he carried Mimi in his arm so that I can nublize her. Before the machine was turn on, she woke up with big open eyes and the minute she saw the inhaler, she cried and struggle to break free... Throughout the entire process, she was very agitated and at the same time very tired. She was angry because her sleep was disturbed, the machine was so loud and the mist keep spraying unto her face.She was tired because of the prolong struggle and cries and also she knew that Mummy will still carried on nublizing her. Sometimes she would rest for a minute to catch hold of her breadth and than the cries continued.
Waiting for the drug to evaporates off seems to be a long wait and finally it's over. She resumed back to her sleep after much pat pat by Vincent.

To Thomson Hospital Again

Yesterday night when I reached home after work, I found that Mimi is running a fever. Oh no I was worried. I quickly gave her paracetamol and shortly after that the fever when down but the cough and running nose still persist. This morning I was awoke by 6am cos Mimi fever was back again. Vincent and I had to take urgent half day leave in order to bring her to see Dr Ang. Dr Ang was surprised to see us back so soon. We told her that Mimi's condition relapsed after the visit on Saturday and now she is having fever too. Dr Ang worried that the lung might be infected and result in pneumonia because having fever is not a good sign for allergic patient. A blood test and X-ray was given to test for infection. As I was pregnant, I could not accompany her into the X-ray room. From outside I could heard her crying and struggling through out the whole process. My heart ached and I felt lousy that I am unable to be inside with her to offer her comfort and encouragement. So helpless!!!
Finally the long wait was over and we were back to the clinic for the test result. Blood test came back positive that she had a virus infection but the chest X-ray show no white dots. Thank God for this false alarm. If her lung were infected than she will need to be hospitalised and things might not be too good for her. Dr Ang suggested that she went through another week of nublizer treatment but increased the amount of time to 4 times per day. Oral medication were also prescribe for her cough and allergy. I had mixed feelings about the whole episode. I sincerely hope that this will be the last round of treatment for her and she will be made well again. But on the other hand if the relapsed came back after we stop the nublizer treatment, than what and how????
All sort of negative thoughts came into my mind and I had to put a stop to it.
I still want to claim unto Psalm 121 and trust that God is in control of the whole situation. We just need to have the faith in God in the things we cannot see and understand at this point of time.

Psalm 121

PSALM 121 says:
" I lift up my eyes to the hills- where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord. the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip- he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber or sleep.
The Lord watches over you- the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm- he will watch over your life;
The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore"

What an assurance from our God and a comforting promise to me and my family. Today Mimi went for her medical review again. This was the second time since she discharged from the hospital two weeks ago. The first round of review wasn't positive for her as she did not react well to the oral medication and Ventolin puff that she has been puffing for the entire week. So the paediatrician decided to gave her nubuliser treatment at home for another week. We rented the machine back and she had to be nubulised three times a day. It works pretty well for her and her coughing/wheezing was reduced greatly to only in the afternoon. The phlegm was also lesser and the mucus in her nose also thicken and dries up. Praise God for that.
Today the review was much positive, she needs only to continue the Ventolin syrup and Zyrtec along with some vitamins and no more nubulising required. But as the day goes, I realised that her cough starts to come back more frequent and so is the running nose. :( Where exactly went wrong???? Doctor says she was suffering from an allergic cough but what is she exactly allergic to???? Food, environment or .....? So it really dampens our moral when things seems to back track again. Many people has been praying for her over her health and I don't denied that I begin to ask God for an answer. What is happening to my Mimi, the used to be tough babe? I decided to look for the answer in my bible and that is where Psalm 121 came upon me.
Really at time like now, where there is no answer to all our doubts and fears, God's words is the best antidote and the true antidote. Right now I want to claim unto this Psalm and seek God for deliverance and restoration of Mimi's health. All infirmities and virus shall be cast out of her body and in no time she will be well again. I truly believed that nothing is too difficult for our Creator and he hears our prayers. Amen!

Mimi was unwell

Mimi Hospitalised on Labour Day.
Mimi was unwell for the past three weeks. It started with an eye infection when one of the eyes kept tearing. Soon it became running nose and slight coughing. We did not pay much attention to the cough at first because it was very mild and only in the morning and evening. However she started to vomit whenever she cough. The amount of vomit was from a small spoonful into a "Merlion" and it began to happen every night. We brought her to see her paediatrician and Mimi was given antibiotic for 5 days because the paediatrician suspected that it might there might be a virus attack. During the course of her medication, we noticed that the cough was still persistent and so was the vomiting. So I decided to seek alternative, I administered her a Chinese cough powder that was from a reputable medical hall and it was known to heal cough in young children very well. The powder seems to work a bit as I noticed her cough was lessen. During the course of treatment, I noticed some small red dots which I didn't do anything about it as it could be coming from her recent MMR vacine. But during the middle of the week, she vomited badly in the night and after that , she had this swollen eyelid and small red dotes all over the upper part of her face. We suspect it was an allergy coming from the Chinese medicine and quickly brought her to Thomson clinic. After examination by GP, we were told it was not an allergy but rather due to her excessive vomit. We thought everything will be OK since then however two days later which was 1st May, Mimi had a very bad rashes all over her body. This time round I knew something was not right and there we go again to Thomson Hospital. After a blood test the doctor confirmed that she was suffering from an allergy. We decided to ward her for observation.
For the next two days, I stayed at the hospital with her. Her rashes managed to subside but the cough still requires her to follow up upon discharge. Dr Ang said her allergy could be due to the antibiotic (Argumentin) as it happen to other kids too. Whatever it is I will be more cautious in future when comes to medication.
