Passing the nine months old milestones was something to Thank God for. We thanked him for giving us this bundle of joy in our family. As Naomi grows healthily and cheerfully each day, we as parent felt a sight of relief knowing that she is well and developing correctly.
Being a nine months old baby means that she is beginning to become more active and mobile, more aware of her surroundings, capable of performing tasks beyond your imagination and much more yet to be discovered.
Over the past two weeks, Naomi was able to use her index finger to point at things. Whether it's the lighting, birds in the sky or even upon seeing us. This act not only symbolised a certain maturity in her motor skills but also her ability to understand objects. It really delight us. Beside pointing, she was able to clap her hands together when you told her to, able to shake her head when asked to dance and able to stand up while holding on to something. All these acts were being displayed towards the end of her eight months period and by now it was part of her daily activities.
Although it gave us satisfaction upon seeing her displaying these acts, we must also constantly remind ourselves that our little baby is growing each day and undivided attention for her is a must. What happened this morning was a classic example of negligence which most parents may have encounter...
This morning as usual we put her in her chair for breakfast and after breakfast, my maid let her watched a baby programme in the living room before proceeding to house chores. Vincent was there doing his work with his back facing Naomi. Suddenly with a thump, Vincent turn around and saw Naomi lying on the floor. He rushed towards her to pick her up and she began crying. Obviously she had fallen out of her chair!
What had happened was something unexpected because she was being buckled to the chair and her chair was being sandwiched between the sofa. So how she managed to come lose and land onto the floor was beyond our apprehension but Thank God she was alright.
So the conclusion was she must have climbed out of her chair and unto the sofa (hope so) and slip off the sofa and fell to the floor. Sound logical but the thing was she can't stand on her own yet or maybe she was able this morning.
A very important lesson learnt and to share.
Never leave your little one alone even with restrainer on cos you never know what they are capable of.
